‘On the Wonk’ consists of an image of Leonardo Da Vinci’s ‘Vitruvian Man’ (the proportions of the human body according to Vitruvius) overlaid with my image of a composite and (now a multi armed) unsettling looking clown.
On one level the work is a visual joke. However, when Virtruvian Man becomes a slightly unbalanced and ‘On the Wonk’ Vitruvian Clown... maybe the subjective counterpoint to an objectively measured and analytical assessment of the model human body says something about the folly and darkness of much of human psychology... in terms of e.g. greed, pollution and war etc.
